In the United Kingdom (UK), it will cost roughly 25 euros for a daily car insurance policy.  In the United States on the other hand, it is going to cost you anywhere between $30 and $50 for comprehensive, 24-hour coverage.  You may be able to save yourself some money by purchasing through your existing provider, but in most cases, the prices will be fairly comparable.

The prices of daily car insurance are determined by a number of different factors.  Everyone is trying to get themselves the lowest possible price on their temporary auto insurance coverage, but there are a few factors that you will need to keep in mind.  If you are not being offered a good price on your insurance, you can take a look at the reasons and try to make adjustments and improvements in order to pay the lowest rate.

Factors That Determine Daily Car Insurance Prices:

  • Age of the Driver – If you are a young driver (age 16 to 24), your car insurance price is going to be much closer to $50 per day for temporary coverage.  On the other hand, if you are over 25 and have a clean driving record, you will pay closer to $30 per day.  Of course there will be general variations, but your age will play a big role in determining your overall insurance cost.
  • Driving History + Records – If you have kept a clean driving record, you are going to pay less for insurance than someone who has gotten into accidents.  Having points deducted from your license and getting traffic violations will naturally cause the price of temporary coverage to increase.
  • Male vs. Female – In general, younger female drivers pay less for car insurance than do males.  You will be required to tell the daily car insurance agency your gender.  The reason that females will usually be charged less is because “generally” females have lower accident damage costs than males.
  • Credit Score of the Driver – Are you a person with bad credit or is your line of credit in great shape?  If you have good credit, you will have no problem getting yourself a lower rate on daily car insurance than someone struggling with poor credit.
  • Value of the Vehicle – How much is the car that you are going to get insured actually worth?  If you are driving around in a Mercedes SL-Class, you are going to pay a lot more for your car insurance than someone who is driving around in an old clunker.  The value of your vehicle is always good to keep in mind before you get an insurance quote.
  • Car Modifications – Is the car that you want insured decked out with modifications?  If you have added speakers, a radio system, new rims, or any other customizations, you will pay for it on your insurance.  Be sure to take note of all the changes that you have made to your car, becuase they will all play a role in determining your daily car insurance price.
